‘Twas the night before Christmas..
At Katie’s Pub- the Pearce House'
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The whisky was hung, by the Guinness - on Tap
The music plays Irish jigs, “Definetly Not Rap”
The Children were nestled all snug in NFL gear
When the door bell chimes in, it’s the neighbors.. “Hey How bout a beer!”
Me wearing DBacks, and Kathy- a Cheese Head for the Pack
We holler “Please come in, leave your team garb on the rack.”
With a jigger in one hand, and pints for all to share,
I carefully pour the Guinness - to make a perfect bruised pear.
As laughter arises and the evening settles in
A patron yells “Wow a dart board.. who wants to see me win?”
When what to my wondering eyes should appear, A Round Jolly man, miniature sleigh, and mid-sized dog deer.
They dueled for hours each throwing with precision,
It’s amazing to see a bulls eye thrown, with what had to be blurred vision.
When all of a sudden, a song blared out in rhyme,
The 1998 Sesmonics hit - it must be.. “Closing time”!
The Jolly dart champion sang knowing the song and verse well..
A little off key, but hey.. what the hell!
“Closing time, past last call for alcohol so finish your whiskey or beer.
Closing time, you don’t have to go home, but you can’t stay here..”
Suddenly, With a twitch of his nose, and a last swig of beer,
8 tiny reindeer - from Uber appear.
As they drove from Katie’s Pub, and faded from sight,
You could hear them all sing..
“Merry Christmas from Katie’s, and to all a safe night!”
